Day 31 – Baby It’s Cold Outside
Seriously, people! When the frigid temps hit (high of 2 today) I wonder how our forefathers survived the Minnesota winters! They didn’t have gas-forced air furnaces. They must have worn their fur coats around the clock!
Outhouses! In the winter! Imagine!
They didn’t even have tamoxifen-induced hot flashes!
We are made of sturdy stock, my friends. Which gets diluted more with each central air conditioner and furnace installed.
So. Winter.
Hate. It.
It’s so hard for me to make phone calls at this time of year. Even when I’m inside and the sun is shining. I just feel so blah.
So it was kind of a downer for me to get an invitation to a birthday party this weekend. Even though is a friend I love so dearly. Carmelita. Remember Carmelita? I rarely get to see her these days since she moved out of this burb and into a farther-out burb. Burb of a burb of a burb, is where she moved.
Then I pulled on my gigantic big-girl pants and realized it was a party to celebrate Carmelita! Who am I to say no to that!
I printed off the party itinerary. Yes, there’s an itinerary to Carmelita’s birthday party. It’s a Bloody Mary Tour in the Twin Cities. A Bloody Mary birthday party that starts with the first Bloody Mary tour at 3 p.m. Which is where I’ll be going because I can do a winter outing (I know. It’s indoors. But still, you have to go outdoors to get to the indoors) when there’s daylight.
And I also just made plans for lunches for the next few weeks. Plus there’s bowling tonight and my rollerskating birthday party in a couple of weeks.
I keep this busy social calendar up and next thing you know, pitchers and catchers will be reporting for training and winter will be over!

-9 here, windchill of -36. I hate winter also. The Bloody Mary tour Birthday party sounds awesome though. Have Fun.
How do we survive it?
We’re hitting 71 today, and a little warmer tomorrow. I am sad because I am in too many meetings this afternoon. Tomorrow I’m off, though … beach or hike? Tough decision.
Don’t hate me.
(I grew up in central Illinois – I earned this!)
Central Illinois! Ha! I’ve been there in the winter. That’s not winter! ;o)
You have my sympathy as the air conditioning in my office thinks “beer fridge” is an acceptable temperature choice. I can’t imagine having to deal with colder! Fortunately there is better weather when I go outside!
You can’t imagine the cold we have to suffer – even if you try. It makes no sense!
