Day 14
January 14, 2013
Here’s what I did yesterday…watched t.v. We’re a few episodes into the second season of Homeland. I wanted to stay home today and watch the entire season. That show is fantastic!
So is Downton Abbey! Did you see last night’s episode? Lady Edith’s wedding. Lord, they crack me up with the things they do to Lady Edith!
Oh, and I wouldn’t want to be in Thomas’ shoes for all the tea in China!
Which reminds me, when I was with a bunch of little kids recently they were saying that old racist poem – “Me Chinese, me play joke, me go peepee in your Coke!”
Who in the hell is keeping that thing going?
Here’s today’s bauble.

I love the sets and costumes and the proper spoken English of Downton Abbey … and Dame Maggie’s character’s zingers! She’s hilarious.
But an upper-class aristocratic landowner in the 1920s walking away from the altar? It would never have happened. It simply wasn’t done; your reputation depended on proper behaviour, and at that time could there even be legal consequences? Maybe not. And maybe I’m thinking of the social mores of a century earlier.
But that disappointed me as a plot device.
The rest? Totally believable.
Hee ha!
